Who Can Run Fluxbuntu?

The quick answer is 'just about anyone'.

Fluxbuntu is available as a live CD and can be run without altering your existing operating system or hard drive. For our initial release, we have provided turnkey starting disks for standard desktop PCs (i386 architecture), AMD's 64 bit processors (x86_64 architecture), and older generation Macintosh computers (ppc architecture) versions. This means that in most instances, you can simply put the appropriate disk in your drive and start your computer up into Fluxbuntu. In no way will Fluxbuntu alter your system.

What Does Fluxbuntu Look Like?

With the advent of Fluxbuntu 1.0, we have gone to great lengths to create a complete Fluxbuntu presence on the desktop. The following are some screenshots of the system in action from a default installation.

Of course, being a Linux based system means that you are free to alter, adjust, tweak, and completely change how your system behaves and looks.

What Applications are Installed by Default?

The following is a brief listing of some of the applications that Fluxbuntu includes to meet your day to day needs:

  1. AbiWord
The lean, mean, and full featured word processor. AbiWord will meet your needs for processing documents.

  2. GnuMeric
GnuMeric fills in the spreadsheet software niche.

  3. Pidgin
The purple Pidgin will relay all of your instant messages to your friends. IRC, MSN, Google Talk, and many other services are supported.

  4. Kazehakase
The innovative Kazehakase browser is offered up for your browsing needs. Thumbnailed images of web pages will help you quickly identify a page you have opened.

  5. Claws
Claws is the intuitive and snappy email client. Grace and sophistication wrapped with easy configuration.

These are but a few of the default applications installed with Fluxbuntu. As you can see, Fluxbuntu is both minimalist and full featured.
